Importance of Trust

Trust is the most important form that allows people to live and work together and feel safe. Trust is the confidence that we have in someone else. Trust is believing someone or something is reliable and honest. It is the basic foundation for any relationship. Trust is essential in life.

"To trust means to rely on another person because you feel safe with them and have confidence that they will not hurt or violate you. Trust is the foundation of relationships because it allows you to be vulnerable and open up to the person without having to defensively protect yourself," says Romanoff. According to Sabrina Romanoff, PsyD, a clinical psychologist and professor at Yeshiva University, it is the basis of a solid relationship.

This definition of trust, given by Sabrina Romanoff, deeply resonates with my life. This definition not only applies to intimate relationships but also to friendships. Trust is an important pillar in relationships, and the lack of it can lead to negativity, conflict, insecurity, depression, and anxiety.

In my life, trust is important because it is the place where hearts meet, and a person can have a sense of comfort while being around trustworthy people. If trust is broken, it will deeply affect the particular person badly. Their life will become intolerable, and it really becomes hard to cope with it. And definitely, that person will start to disbelieve everyone he/she meets. I say this because I too have the same problem, as I will not trust anyone so easily. One can take it in a positive manner and also in a negative manner. Not trusting a stranger or friends so easily comes under the positive aspect. If I do the same thing in my intimate relationship and to my family members, it hurts or affects people negatively. One who is good and trustworthy will be deeply affected by doing so. So in any relationships, trust plays a vital role. To build and keep up trust, communicate openly and honestly. Also, own up to your mistakes which will reduce trust issues. And lastly, I would like to say that avoiding secrecy when it comes to intimate relationships deepens trust.
